The Murder of Lindsay Buziak

Nov 26 2024 Lindsay’s Buziak’s murder – and 1 more dead guy.

This 16-year journey at trying to find justice for Lindsay Buziak has been a long winding road of mystery, deception, deflections, lies, and half-truths. It has also been a real eye-opener in trying to understand the cold-hearted reality about the justice system, the courts, the Crown, different police agencies and the people involved in crime.

Over the years, there has been all kinds of information out there about the Zailo’s, much of it told by the Zailo’s themselves, beginning with their appearance on Dateline NBC Dream House Mystery in October 2010. Yet, we’ve heard nothing from Vid Acevedo, the Delalcazars or anyone else who was involved in the Calgary Drug Bust. How is it that the court documents that Capital Daily journalist Zander Sherman was able to get from the courts revealed statements to police made by the Zailo family & Cohen Oatman, but no statements from Edgar Acevedo (Vid), the Delalcazars, or anyone else who was involved in that shipment of drugs moving from Victoria to Calgary?

Was Vid ever interviewed by the police? Were the Delalcazars ever interviewed by the police? Why was there nothing said about them in court documents? Did they refuse to comply when asked to come in for an interview? It’s very possible that Vid and the Delalcazars were never suspects at all. If the Delalcazars were set up to take the fall for Lindsay’s murder just maybe they decided to keep a low profile. After all the cops were all over them right after the murder and still are today. At least that is what the public has been led to believe. Well, the plot thickens, the mystery continues, and the conspirators continue to enjoy their wonderful life of freedom. As for the cops who knows what they are up to these days. Their silence is deafening and their attitude sucks.

And now we have another dead guy who may have been central to the Buziak investigation.

Edgar Ovidio Acevedo

Nov 20/2022 British Columbia’s Justice System is not working. CRIME PAYS. – The Murder of Lindsay Buziak

Vid Acevedo’s death was an accident, nothing suspicious there at all.

Yet we are left with many unanswered questions. Was Vid innocent of any involvement in Lindsay’s murder? Was he one of the conspirators, or was he just another innocent guy who had been set up to be the fall guy? Could he have been a witness for the Crown at trial?

It’s almost as if the police know exactly what they are doing, waiting it out, hoping anyone who had information about this case dies or mysteriously disappears. No witnesses to take to trial, “no trial”. Vid’s close friend Matty Pakos is dead, his close friend Wayne Kalnciems is dead, Ross Addicott is dead, and Shane Wilson is dead. And now Vid is dead. Dead guys can’t talk, and you can be sure each one of those dead guys had valuable information that could have helped this case. I am surprised that the drug trafficker weasel Ziggy Matheson is still alive.

If Vid played no part in Lindsay’s murder, then neither did his soul brothers the Delalcazars. The soul brothers have been best friends with Vid all these years since the murder, especially Emerson & Erickson. Vid would never have betrayed his soul brothers. There is a strong possibility that Vid was working with the cops to help solve Lindsay’s murder, maybe even as an informant. Why not, almost every criminal in Victoria is an informant so why not Vid. Lot of dead informants out there, and the ones who are still alive probably won’t be for much longer.

Lindsay’s murder is still shrouded with mystery, and there are still many questions that have gone unanswered.

In the last few years, the Saanich Police have not been forthcoming with any new information, and it is evident they have no intentions of doing so. These self-righteous bandits sit back knowing that Lindsay’s family and friends are suffering, yet they stand behind their oath of silence insisting that they do not want to jeopardize the case by sharing too much information with the public. Don’t waste your time asking any one of these detectives involved in the case a question, because all you will get is a “bubble-wrapped hogwash” response. In other words, a lie.

In fairness to them, they cannot say anything that might jeopardize the case. They have been trained to lie, and to keep a straight face when they do it. Sixteen years is a long time to withhold the truth from Lindsay’s loved ones, especially when the cops know full well that the evidence they have can’t even make it past Crown, never mind make it to the inside of a courtroom. If anyone of them actually have a heart it must be very difficult for them to keep silent.

Let’s go over some questions that have never been answered.

Jason has always stood by his story that Lindsay’s plans were to go over to the mainland after the showing to attend her girlfriend’s stagette. Yet Lindsay’s close friend Andrea said on A Channel News “Lindsay was supposed to be at my birthday party that night but never showed up.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfU7L6du8XU

What’s really interesting about all this is that Lindsay had submitted an “advertised” Open House” for Saturday February 2nd.

OAK BAY NEWS February 1/2008

OPEN HOUSE #802 845 YATES STREET SATURDAY FEB 2ND, 2008. 1-3 PM LINDSAY BUZIAK 686-6330.

Lindsay never did hold the Open House that Saturday afternoon. We know that because Lindsay arrived at the Re/Max Camosun office at 2:00 pm, stayed for about 45 mins, then left to meet Jason at Sauce, arriving shortly after 3:00 pm. For whatever reason she had decided not to do the Open House. Lindsay really wanted to go to her girlfriend’s stagette in Vancouver that night – so she might have originally cancelled the open to allow herself more time to get ready to go to Vancouver.

Back in the day when realtors mainly advertised in newspapers, every newspaper had a deadline for a real estate ad to be submitted, and it was usually 5-7 days prior to the newspaper hitting the streets. Once submitted the ad could not be changed or cancelled at the last minute. The ad was likely submitted and paid for by the listing realtors. Lindsay may either have found someone else to do the open, or she may have just told the listing agents to find someone else or do it themselves.

Although sitting around in open house can be very boring, young/new realtors will often take on other realtor’s opens in the hopes of picking up a new buyer. With Lindsay’s outgoing personality it’s likely she did pick up buyers by holding opens but on this occasion she may have thought to herself, why would I to sit around (as she had likely done many times while studying to get her license and in the early days of being licensed) in this Yates Street condo for 2 hours when I could be on the ferry on my way to a fabulous evening with friends. The off chance of picking up a new client simply wasn’t enough incentive for her to do it on that day!

WHAT DAY DID LINDSAY CANCEL THIS 802 – 845 YATES STREET CONDO OPEN?

And how soon after cancelling did Lindsay get the first call from the mystery client in Vancouver guaranteeing they were going to buy a “million dollar” property in less than 3 days. No realtor would turn down this opportunity and of course we know that this call is likely what kept Lindsay from going to Vancouver – this WAS enough incentive! Seemingly, someone was doing their utmost to make sure that Lindsay did not go to the mainland that night. Once Lindsay knew she was not going to go to the stagette on the mainland she likely made plans to go to her friend Andrea’s birthday party in Victoria, but she didn’t make it to that party either.

I wonder if the Saanich Police ever spoke with the Yates Street property owner, or the listing agents, Shirley & Ryan Zailo to determine what happened after Lindsay decided not to do that open house?!! Ryan was also a relatively new realtor…why was he originally not planning to do the open himself? Did he end up doing it?

The Yates property did not sell until February 18.

It’s always been inferred that Lindsay never got the name of the client.

Lindsay told people that the woman gave her a name, but with the woman’s accent she was not able to understand it. Lindsay never entered the name of the client into her Daytimer. According to police reports there were 10 phone calls made between Lindsay and the client prior to the showing. So, are we saying that during all these conversations the woman’s name was never used? I call bs to this ridiculous story.

If Lindsay couldn’t understand the woman’s name, how could she possibly understand everything else the woman was saying. Lindsay certainly understood the woman when she said her husband worked with the government and he was being transferred to Victoria, and that they had to buy a house within two days. I highly suspect that the woman gave Lindsay a name and asked her to keep their name strictly confidential until they had been over to Victoria and purchased. I mean really, the woman could have introduced herself as Maria, what did it really matter what she called herself if the name was fake anyway.

Remember, back in November Lindsay had a client she sold a house to, and that woman worked for the Campbell government.

On the MLS sales report the client’s name was registered as PIPA. (privacy protected). What a perfect ruse for this new client to ask for Lindsay to keep her name confidential. Let’s not forget too, that when Jason arrived home from his hockey game on the Friday night before the murder, he was telling Lindsay not to worry, reminding her about the mysterious client she had a month earlier, and that call had ended in a sale. Very interesting how Jason just happens to bring that scenario to Lindsay’s attention, and then Lindsay gets a new mystery phone call from a woman whose husband also just happens to work with the government in Vancouver and is relocating to Victoria.

All just too conveniently suspicious. Just how many people would have known about this previous client of Lindsay’s? Less than a handful I’d say, and it would have to be someone very close to Lindsay. It makes far more sense that Lindsay had the client’s name but did not repeat it to anyone. I can’t even imagine a realtor heading off to a house to meet a client without at least a first and last name. And no manager of a real-estate office, if they were aware of the situation, would allow a young woman to go alone. It just makes no sense at all – unless…..

Let’s remember too, the client referral story. The police will not confirm that there was a referral client although Lindsay’s dad has insisted from day one that Lindsay told him that the client gave her the name of the referral client, that she tried to reach this person, but the client’s answering machine said they were out of town. Once again, how convenient & suspicious that Lindsay’s client from November just happened to be out of town at that same time of the murder. It’s as if someone knew that Lindsay’s November client was not going to be in town when the murder went down.

So, the police report says there were 10 phone calls between Lindsay and this woman. Are they counting the times that the woman called Lindsay & Lindsay didn’t answer, or the times Lindsay called the client, and the client didn’t answer. Because there were 4 calls where that happened that I am aware of. So, let’s take this down to six conversations between Lindsay & the woman. Could be more.

Then we have Lindsay’s manager Shirley Zailo who says she arrived at Lindsay’s condo shortly after 7:00 pm and just happened to hear Lindsay give the client the DeSousa address.

Shirley, the only witness to make such a claim, and the police put in their notes as gospel. Shirley tells police that on the Friday night she arrives at Lindsay’s condo shortly after 7:00 pm. Jason tells police that he left the condo at 7:30 pm that Friday night to go to his hockey game. How is it then that Jason tells police that it was his mother who told him that Lindsay had remained on the phone for about 20 minutes. Didn’t Jason say he didn’t leave his condo until 7:30, and if that’s the case wasn’t he there to hear this conversation too? Jason also told police he couldn’t remember who initiated the call or if Lindsay was on her home phone or cel. Really! Seemingly Jason doesn’t remember a lot of things. Very conflicting stories told by Jason & his mother.

Zailo told the police that on the Thursday evening Buziak told him that she had spoken to the woman again, and that she and her husband were coming over on Saturday to view homes. She said the woman was coming for sure, but her husband may or may not be coming. Jason said he was present on one occasion when Lindsay tried to contact the woman by phone, but she didn’t answer. In a police interview Jason told the cops that on the Saturday morning he had received a call from a woman on their land line who spoke with a broken Spanish accent. He told the woman Lindsay wasn’t home and gave her Lindsays cell number. I highly doubt Lindsay ever gave the woman her home number, why would she?

In a police interview jASON SAID,

“I had a client at SHC whose condo I had listed. Lindsay actually had a client buying their condo. I went to SHC to present the new offer from Lindsay’s client.” Well, Jason just happened to be talking about Nada Azouri’s condo at #210 2747 Quadra St. Nada was the owner Joe Semren’s fiancée at the time. How is it though that Jason was presenting the offer on Saturday February 2nd, when the MLS listing contract was dated February 4th. The contract was not submitted to the real estate board until February 6. You cannot legally present an offer on a property that is not listed.

Lindsay was a very independent young woman, and she would have wanted to present “her” own offer.

Lindsay never would have handed her client’s offer over to Jason to present. No way, no how. Even if there was a hint of truth to this story, which I have not been able to find, there was no reason for Jason to be going to the DeSousa house to get Lindsay’s signature that night. Jason claimed that Lindsay was not worried about the showing, however the receptionist in Lindsay’s office described Lindsay’s demeanor to the Saanich Police as “really weird” and “freaked out”.

Cal Faber & other realtors in the office said Lindsay was very nervous about the showing. Cal, a former police officer even offered to accompany Lindsay to the showing, but Lindsay told Cal that Jason had promised to be there for her. So, what happened between the time Lindsay left the office to meet Jason at Sauce? Jason said that at Sauce Lindsay was showing him pictures of listings she planned to show and that she was calm and not wanting him to go with her. He claims Lindsay called him at the very last minute when she was on her way to the house asking him to come and meet her.

capital daily’s STORY ZANDER Sherman’s interview with Jason,

Jason says that at about 3 pm, he met Lindsay for lunch at a restaurant by the Inner Harbour. Jason told Capital Daily he remembered Lindsay eating quickly and showing him feature sheets of properties she planned to show the mystery couple. Jason said he again offered to show the properties for Lindsay, but she declined.  Shirley told the police that she got a call from Lindsay around 2:00 pm just about the time Lindsay was walking into the Re/Max Camosun office. Lindsay had some questions but questions that were not related to the clients or the meeting. Of course, the police could verify that the call actually happened, but they will never know what was said during the call.

Journalist Zander Sherman said, “Jason’s description of Lindsay’s not being worried seemed to differ from what others have told him” Interesting that even Zander saw right through that smokescreen. But not the Saanich Police, they believed ever single word Jason and his mother bestowed upon them. Maybe Zander wasn’t working for the Zailo’s after all. And if he was, he just may have been supporting the wrong side.

There are a multitude of lies that have been told by different people over the years, and as long as the Saanich Police continue to believe what the conspirators tell them this murder will never be solved.
