March 18/2024 Lindsay Buziak Murder – the women in the fancy dress.

On Dateline NBC Dreamhouse Mystery which aired in October 2010, the commentator said, “1″ witness was able to help police with a composite sketch of the woman.

Jason Zailo tells police he drives up to the house just four minutes later at 5:45, and then he tells them that he may have actually seen the murderers: a tall Caucasian man, and a blonde woman wearing a colorful dress.
“The killers were actually about to walk out the front door and leave, and he turned into the cul-de-sac and interrupted them leaving,” said Sgt. Horsley. “If he had been five seconds later, he would have driven right into the suspects walking out here into the driveway.” “If he had been five seconds later, he would have driven right into the suspects walking out here into the driveway.” Instead, he tells police the couple turned around and closed the door. “And his assumption is these are the clients, and the showing is just starting as the door closes,” said Horsley. “He then parks outside because he is waiting for the showing to end.”
If you are going to kill someone or be involved in a murder plan,
Wouldn’t you wear black solid colored non-descript clothing – not an abstract multicolor pattern tight dress? There are those who believe the woman’s dress was worn to distract the investigators, and the reality is, that is exactly what happened. For years the police have had the public believing that the dress in the above picture is an exact replica of the dress the woman wore to the viewing at 1702 DeSousa the night of the murder, and they base this on the statements given by witnesses who claim they saw the couple greeting Lindsay in the driveway.
16 years has passed and there is not a shred of evidence to support that anyone other than Jason saw the woman wearing this colorful dress. One witness, EI, who spoke with the police right after the murder, was a fellow who was driving by in his truck on his way home from work, passed the 1702 DeSousa house and witnessed Lindsay greeting the couple in the driveway. He told police that he saw the man in the “long coat”, but he didn’t get a good look at the woman. This suggests that the man was standing on the Torquay side of the driveway, and the woman was standing on the inside of the man. (cul-de-sac).
Another neighbor who lived in the heritage style home on Torquay across from the DeSousa house told the media that he walked across the street with the intentions of looking in the windows to see the new furniture. When he got close to the house, he realized all the lights were on inside. He quickly turned around and went back home. Seemingly that is all he saw.
Why have the police been so secretive about which witness allegedly saw the black and pink/red dress? Let’s take a serious look at the timeline….
Lindsay opened the locbox at 5:29 and witnessed the couple arriving. Remember what Lindsay said to Jason on the phone just as she was opening the locbox. I’ve got to go; the Mexicans are here. This means the man driving by in his truck, saw Lindsay greeting the couple between 5:30 & 5:32. Then Lindsay enters the house. The Saanich Police say that Lindsay showed the lower level first, so let’s say 5:33 – 5:36. Now they head upstairs, not leaving a lot of time left to murder Lindsay. The cops put the time of Lindsay’s death between 5:38 and 5:41.
If there were other witnesses, which I highly doubt, they only had that same 3-minute timespan as the guy who was driving by in his truck to get a good description of the dress the woman was wearing. Jason pulls into the cul-de-sac at 5:45 and witnesses the man & woman going back into the house, and he gives the cops a play-by-play description of what the man and woman were wearing. Lindsay was already dead at 5:38 – 5:41, so no other witnesses could have seen Lindsay greeting the couple during that time.
WHAT IF THERE WAS NEVER AWOMAN IN A MULTI-COLORED DRESS AT ALL?
What if it was just a story to mislead the investigators? What if the woman was dressed in black like most killers planning a murder would be? What if the Saanich Police have been chasing a ghost all these years – all because they were fed false information.
THIS TIMELINE DOES SHINES A WHOLE NEW LIGHT ON THIS INVESTIGATION.
Interesting that the photo of the couple on Crime Stoppers places the woman on the outside, and the man on the inside. Why is that? Years after the murder, this same man spoke with Lindsay’s father while CHEK NEWS was filming at the DeSousa house. He told him exactly what he had told the cops. That he saw the man in the “long coat”, but that he did not get a good look at the woman.
And shortly after the murder, why did the Saanich Police discourage Lindsay’s family from offering a reward, telling them they had everything they needed? The cops were so damn sure they were on the right track but as it turns out they were following the wrong trail, tracking the breadcrumbs that the conspirators had left for them.
CHEK NEWS filmed this incident and caught part of the conversation between Lindsay’s dad and the witness RI.
Why did the Saanich Police not consider this man’s description as credible? Why did they choose to go with the description that Jason Zailo gave them several months later. Why? Jason described the man as wearing a classy two-tone brown jacket hanging just below the waist and the woman wearing a colorful swirl patterned dress. Why is it then, that in September 2010, on Dateline NBC Jason said he saw two shadows through the frosted glass in the front door, but never mentioned seeing the man enter the house or describe what he was wearing.
It is also interesting that Jason told the police the reason he did not go into the house when he arrived, was because, when he saw the man entering the house, he thought the showing was just beginning. Jason was on the phone with Lindsay at 5:30 pm. Lindsay said, “I’ve got to go, the Mexican’s are here.” (Jason’s words on Dateline.) So, did Jason think that Lindsay & the couple stood outside in the cold talking for those first 15 minutes?
In 2009, one day after the anniversary of Lindsay’s death the Saanich Police released a sketch of the man & woman who met Lindsay at the house.
They had held back their descriptions for several months, critical information that could have been instrumental in discovering who these people were. Seemingly, the Saanich Police held this information back because they were not confident in the descriptions they had been given.
The identity of the witnesses has never been released, except for the one man who had the courage to come forward and speak with Lindsay’s dad. A man of character indeed! Clearly, the police brushed his description off, and ran with the description Jason gave them. Can you only imagine if there were no other witnesses that saw Lindsay greeting the couple? Or at least, none that was able to describe what the couple was wearing in detail. It may be that the description Jason gave the cops was all they had to work with, and that is why they held back going public for so long.

A year ago, Saanich Police said public tips weren’t needed to solve the case, even though months after the killing the family considered putting up a reward. The Saanich Police told the family they had sufficient information and there was no need to do so. In February 2010, Lindsay’s mother announced that the family was offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of her killer. The offer was good for six months.
The reward offered expired on August 10/2009 and was not renewed.

Saanich Police released a sketch yesterday, a year and a day after Buziak’s death, of a Caucasian woman, 35-45 years old, with short blonde hair.
Police said the male suspect is said to be Caucasian, 6-feet tall with dark hair. Both were described as well-dressed, the man wearing a light to medium colored jacket, and the woman possibly wearing a black designer skirt or dress patterned with thick white & red swirls. Police arrived at the description through several witnesses. Sgt. John Price said the Saanich Police have had the sketch and descriptions for months.
Asked why it was relevant now, Price said the police wanted to take advantage of the resurgence of interest in the case, referring to media coverage about the anniversary of Buziak’s murder.
Robert Gordon, a criminologist at Simon Fraser University said, “Police usually release a sketch as quickly as possible in criminal investigations. If they have been sitting on this sketch there is some doubt that has to be cast over the value of the image. Gordon said, the belated release of the sketch suggests two possible situations: The police don’t have a suspect at all, or they have an inside track on who that was and didn’t want to spoil that.

You can listen to what Det. Sgt. Chris Horsley had to say about Jason Zailo at 12:41 into this video. UNSOLVED: Who killed Lindsay Buziak? Realtor believed to be targeted – YouTube.
In 2021, Saanich police, the RCMP and the FBI launched a new task force to investigate the case, which they said would make use of new DNA and genealogical technology.
Does anyone know how long it takes to get dna results back, once the samples are sent to the lab. It’s been 3 years now since that announcement was made yet no POSITIVE DNA results to date.
